Our commitment. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) across this marketing website and our platform. We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a checkbox — we continuously review and improve.

1.Standards and Legal Framework

Tugboat Supply designs and develops its digital products in conformance with or toward the following standards and frameworks:

WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility, covering perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III — requiring places of public accommodation, including websites and web-based services open to the general public, to provide equal access to individuals with disabilities.
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — applicable to federal agencies and vendors that supply electronic and information technology to the federal government; we follow Section 508 principles as a best practice given the potential for maritime industry users in federally contracted roles.
EN 301 549 — the European accessibility standard; while our operations are U.S.-only, we use this standard as an additional quality reference.

2.Current Conformance Status

This marketing website (tugboatsupply.com) is currently in a state of partial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to address known gaps.

The following accessibility features are implemented across all pages:

Skip navigation link — a visible skip-to-main-content link appears on keyboard focus at the top of every page.
Semantic HTML landmarks — all pages use correct header, nav, main, section, and footer elements.
Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls, map zoom controls) are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
Visible focus indicators — a high-contrast brass-colored outline ring appears on all focused interactive elements.
Color contrast — text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
ARIA labels — maps, navigation regions, form controls, and icon-only buttons carry descriptive ARIA labels and roles.
Form labels — all form inputs have associated visible labels; hints and error messages are programmatically linked via htmlFor and role="status".
Reduced motion — animations and transitions are disabled for users who have set prefers-reduced-motion: reduce in their OS or browser.
Responsive layout — all pages reflow correctly at 400% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling and at viewport widths from 320 px upward.
Alt text — all meaningful images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology with aria-hidden="true".
Page titles — every page has a unique, descriptive <title> element.
Language attribute — the page language is declared as lang="en" on the root <html> element.

3.Known Limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to resolve them:

Interactive map (supplier coverage map) — the Leaflet-based map is a visual-primary interface. Keyboard users can zoom and interact with the map controls, but individual supplier pins within clusters do not yet have a keyboard-accessible list alternative on the same view. As a workaround, the full supplier list with all details appears immediately below the map and is fully keyboard accessible. We are evaluating ARIA live region updates when filters change and a text-based map alternative.
Map cluster pop-ups — pop-up content within Leaflet marker clusters may not be fully announced by all screen readers. The same information is available in the supplier card list below the map.
Third-party embeds — if any third-party scripts (analytics, chat) are added in future, their accessibility conformance will be evaluated before deployment.

4.Platform Accessibility (Supplier Tenants)

The Tugboat Supply platform is designed with large tap targets, high-contrast interfaces, and simple navigation flows specifically because it is used on shared bridge tablets in maritime environments. Design principles include:

All interactive elements meet a minimum touch target size of 44 × 44 CSS pixels.
Text is legible at normal and increased browser zoom levels.
The crew PIN input is a large, numeric keypad-style interface with high contrast and clear visual state.
Error and confirmation messages are programmatically associated with relevant form fields.

We are committed to resolving accessibility barriers in the platform with the same urgency as security or data integrity issues.
